Fruit that contributes a little protein
Written by The Kalcule Team · Last updated 18 août 2026
Fruit is not a protein food. A few options add a couple of grams and a lot of fibre and micronutrients. Use them as fruit, then get protein from proper sources.
The honest list
Guava, jackfruit, blackberries, bananas, avocados and dried apricots show up on “high protein fruit” lists because everything looks high when the bar is 1 g. Compare that to 20 g in yoghurt or tofu.
Why the list still exists
People searching this topic usually want plant options. Pair fruit with yoghurt, nuts or a soy product instead of expecting an orange to do egg-level work.
Dried fruit
Dried fruit concentrates sugars and calories. Protein still stays modest. Weigh it in a deficit.
